  • Day 1: You will be picked from your Lodge in Livingstone to travel to the Kafue National Park – southern region.

    Program of the Day
    07:00 AM – Wake Up and Take a Bath. Please ensure that you have an early breakfast at your lodge in Livingstone. The journey from Livingstone to the southern region of Kafue National Park is a long one, taking almost the entire day.

    08:30 AM – Pick-Up from Lodge/Hotel in Livingstone
    You will be picked up from your accommodation in Livingstone. Before departing the town, we will make a brief stop-over in Livingstone town. This stop allows you to purchase any last-minute items or exchange your hard currency into Zambian Kwacha for the journey to theremote Kafue National Park, southern region.

    09:30 AM – Departure from Livingstone to Kalomo Town Traveling north on the T-1 tarmac road, you will cover approximately 120 km before reaching Kalomo.

    11:55 AM – Arrival in Kalomo Town
    Kalomo was the first colonial capital city of Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia.
    Breakfast: Enjoy a delicious breakfast at a reputable restaurant in Kalomo.
    Following breakfast, we will visit Choppies Supermarket to purchase necessary groceries and mineral water in preparation for the off-road journey on the dusty Dundumwezi gravel road towards the wilderness of Kafue National Park.

    01:30 PM – Departure from Kalomo to Dundumwezi South Gate
    Approximately 80 km from Kalomo, you will take the Dundumwezi dusty road toward Kafue National Park.

    Activity: On the outskirts of Kalomo, we will make a brief detour to visit the first colonial state house of North-West Rhodesia (now Zambia), which was used by the colonial administrator. After this short tour, we will rejoin the Dundumwezi dusty road and continue towards Kafue National Park.

    02:30 PM – Entry into Kafue National Park
    At the southern tip of the park, we will enter through Dundumwezi Gate, managed by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife. A Zambia Wildlife Officer will record the necessary details for both passengers and the vehicle before allowing entry.
    Narration (Information Tip): While we are entering Kafue National Park, no park entry fees will be required as we will be in transit through the park to Itezhi Tezhi town. However, with Kafue National Park now under the new management of African Parks, this policy may change without prior notice. Please be prepared for any last-minute updates.

    Overview of Kafue National Park
    Kafue National Park is Zambia’s prime location for a truly ‘wild’ safari experience. It remains untouched, rich in wildlife, and offers an authentic African setting. Due to its vast remote location, you will not encounter many tourists, making every wildlife sighting an exciting adventure. While the park's animals are spread out due to its large size, encounters with wildlife are always thrilling.

    05:30 PM – Exit Kafue National Park
    After traveling through the park, you will exit at Musa Gate and enter the Namwala Game Management Area.

    06:30 PM – Check-In at Lodge/Campsite/Guest House in Itezhi Tezhi
    You will check into a comfortable accommodation option of your choice.

    07:00 PM – 08:30 PM – Evening Dinner and Relaxation
    Enjoy a relaxing dinner and spend time unwinding with friends.

    09:00 PM – Retire for the Night- End the day by settling in for a well-deserved rest.

  • Day 2: Day 2: Exploration of Kafue National Park & Longola Hot Springs.

    07:30 am - Wake Up & Breakfast
    Wake up at your lodge, campsite, or guest house in Itezhi Tezhi and enjoy a delicious breakfast to start your day.

    08:30 am - Depart for Ngoma Game Management Area
    Leave for Ngoma Game Management Area within the Kafue National Park, southern region, for a morning of exciting game viewing.

    09:30 am - 10:30 am - Game Viewing in Ngoma
    Enter Ngoma Management Area and begin your game drive. Spot wildlife in the natural habitat of the park.

    10:20 am - 11:30 am - Touring Ngoma Area
    Continue exploring the Ngoma Management Area. Stop at safe spots for closer looks at wild animals in their natural environment.

    11:30 am - 12:00 pm - Optional: Visit Elephant Orphanage Centre
    Time and conditions permitting, visit the Elephant Orphanage Centre within Kafue National Park's southern region. Learn about the David Sheppard Foundation's efforts to care for orphaned elephants and contribute to their protection (optional donations welcome).

    12:30 pm - 13:30 pm - Lunch at Elephant Orphanage Centre
    Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at the Elephant Orphanage Centre (subject to availability of public visitation, depending on the center's schedule).

    13:30 pm - 14:00 pm - Continue Game Viewing in Kafue National Park
    If the Elephant Orphanage Centre is closed for medical care, continue with more game viewing
    in the Ngoma Management Area, Nkala, and nearby loops along the river for additional wildlife
    sightings.

    14:00 pm - Proceed to Nkala & Ngoma for Wildlife Viewing
    Explore more areas in Kafue National Park, focusing on wildlife along river loops.

    14:30 pm - 15:00 pm - Exit Kafue National Park
    Exit the park through the Musa Gate and return to your lodge/campsite/guest house for a delicious lunch.

    15:00 pm - 16:00 pm - Visit Longola Hot Springs
    Leave for Iyanda Village, outside the Kafue National Park, for a nature and cultural experience at Longola Hot Springs. Although there are no bathing facilities, enjoy the scenic views surrounded by palm trees and other unique landscapes.

    16:00 pm - 17:00 pm - Itezhi Tezhi Scenic Exploration
    Embark on a leisurely walk around Itezhi Tezhi, exploring both uphill and downhill areas. Enjoy breathtaking views, serene landscapes, and the picturesque charm of the region.

    17:30 pm - 19:00 pm - Return & Relax
    Return to your lodge/campsite/guest house and relax after the day's adventures.

    19:00 pm - 21:30 pm - Dinner & Relaxation
    Enjoy a hearty dinner and unwind with friends. Share stories and reflect on the day's exploration.

    21:00 pm - Bedtime
    Retire to your room for a restful sleep to rejuvenate for the next day's adventures.

  • Day 3: Travel back to Livingstone whilst doing enroute wildlife viewing excursion.

    07:00 am - 07:30 am - Breakfast & Check-out
    Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your lodge/campsite/guest house in Itezhi Tezhi. Afterward, check out and prepare for your journey back to Livingstone. We will re-enter Kafue National Park via Musa Gate.

    08:30 am - Scenic Drive Along the Spinal Road
    Drive along the spinal gravel road, winding alongside the picturesque Lake Itezhi Tezhi. Travel through inner loops to catch one last glimpse of wildlife as they drink from the Kafue River. This final game drive provides ample opportunities for photography and observation.

    09:30 am - Join Dudumwezi Road
    Proceed along Dudumwezi Road, heading toward Kalomo en route to Livingstone. Continue enjoying the beautiful landscape and occasional wildlife sightings along the way.

    12:00 pm - Exit Kafue National Park at Dundumwezi Gate
    Exit the park at Dundumwezi Gate and proceed towards Kalomo for a well-deserved break.

    14:50 pm - Lunch in Kalomo
    Arrive in Kalomo and enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants, offering a chance to relax and refuel before continuing the journey.

    15:30 pm - Proceed to Livingstone via T-1 Road
    After lunch, continue along the Livingstone T-1 road. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive as you make your way towards the vibrant town of Livingstone.

    16:30 pm - Arrival in Livingstone
    Arrive in Livingstone and be dropped off at your lodge or hotel, marking the end of your safari adventure.
